Electronic Arts Eyes Battlefield Developer DICE

Publishing giant interested in buying the rest of the DICE's shares.
According to Reuters, game publishing giant Electronic Arts today offered to buy the remaining 81 percent of shares for Swedish game developer Digital Illusions, who is famous for its high-selling "Battlefield" series games.EA already owns 19 percent of DICE, and said the board of Digital Illusions unanimously recommended the offer, purportedly closing the deal December 27.
Fresh from the buzz surrounding a blog that portrayed EA's management as being maniacal slave drivers, the publisher is poised take an increasingly larger stake into the gaming industry--reporting solid profits and revenue even in spite of other publishers such as Vivendi Universal Games and Eidos struggling.
