Commandos series becomes a first-person shooter.
Eidos announced today a new World War II first person shooter called Commandos Strike Force, slated for release in spring 2005 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox.Based on the Commando strategy game franchise, players take control of the three members of the 'Strike Force' unit, each with their own play style. You can switch between the Green Beret, the Sniper, and the Spy, each who occupy the traditional niches of gameplay.
As other Commando titles, Commandos Strike Force takes place on the European front, having players play missions through France, Russia and Norway. Mission objectives include destroying a Nazi ship, ambushing enemy troops, freeing French Resistance prisoners and kidnapping a general.
"By combining the tactical approach of the previous Commandos games with the intense action of a FPS, Commandos Strike Force will provide a more cerebral approach to the war game genre," said Ignacio Perez, CEO of Pyro Studios. "Strike Force is our most ambitious project ever and we believe that this game will set a new benchmark for World War II videogames."
