Half-Life 2 Steam Presale to Begin Oct 6

Despite not having a release date, Valve will start accepting pre-orders for the hyped shooter.

Although developer Valve and publisher Vivendi Universal Games still haven't come to a peaceful resolution, Valve has announced that it will start accepting pre-orders for Half-Life 2 for its Steam online distribution service. Interestingly, no release date has still been revealed--either Valve is confident it won't be delayed, or the company's taking a huge risk in taking consumer's cash before knowing for sure if it'll have a holiday release.

Those who pre-order will immediately have the final version of Counter-Strike: Source, whose beta testing period ends on the 6th as well.
