3D Realms Signs Meqon for Duke Nukem Forever Physics

The fact that the company is still making the game is the biggest news.

Texas-based developer 3D Realms has announced that it has signed on Swedish firm Meqon to supply the physics engine for the long-thought-dead shooter Duke Nukem Forever.

"We evaluated several physics SDK's and Meqon was really fast, had the cleanest interface and integrated into our game very quickly," said to 3D Realms CEO George Broussard. "With its advanced feature set, we feel confident that Meqon's next generation physics engine can help us create the next generation of action games."

The technology will be used for character, rigid-body, and vehicle physics. It isn?t known how long 3D Realms has been working with Meqon, which was founded in 2002.

The biggest news though is that Duke Nukem Forever is still alive. Following the critical acclaim of Duke Nukem 3D, the game has been under the radar since it was first announced in 1997. 3D Realms has made no efforts to rush the game or give a timeline, saying that "it's done when it?s done."
