Valve Hands Half-Life 2 Release Candidate to VU Games, Release Date Coming "Soon"

Our wait finally seems to be coming to an end for the highly anticipated shooter.

Developer Valve Software has delivered a release candidate disc for Half-Life 2 to Vivendi Universal Games, a sign that the game is nearing launch.

Valve says that a release date will be announced soon, and now waits for approval by VU Games' QA department, who will look for any bugs that need to be addressed."We're hoping they will pull out a release date soon," said Valve marketing director Doug Lombardi.

With the release candidate in the hands of Vivendi Universal, a delay to 2005 seems highly unlikely--especially since the game would be one of the publisher's hottest selling titles for the holiday season.
