Capes for level 20 players, new visuals and the option to adjust super powers.
NCsoft has announced that it has released the second update to the critically acclaimed MMORPG City of Heroes called Issue 2: A Shadow of the Past. The automatic update has players face an invasion of monsters from another dimension that lasts for several days. Responding to overwhelming feedback, capes will finally be in--but unfortunately, you need to be level 20. Other changes include the ability to adjust super powers when reaching level 24, and new visual effects when hitting level 30.The invading force will appear from one of two zones added to the game, and all heroes, regardless level, can participate in fighting off the invasion. The other new zone is called Hollows, an area consisting of stone and fire enemies called Magmites and Pumicites geared toward players at levels 5 to 15.
"Fans of City of Heroes are going to get a kick out of this new update because it has so much for everyone," said Jack Emmert, lead designer of City of Heroes and creative director at Cryptic Studios. "Our players aren't just going to get new capes, badges and effects and go on with business as usual. They will immediately be able to show off their new looks in a global battle with never-before-seen monsters from another dimension. We think this raises the bar for MMO expansions."
City of Heroes is available at retailers for $49.99 and carries a monthly subscription rate of $14.95. For details of Issue 2: A Shadow of the Past, visit the official site.
