Half-Life 2 To See Release in September?

And as the still much-anticipated PC FPS nears release, rumors swell from the depths of the Internet.

According to a conference call held by GameStop for its second quarter results, Half-Life 2 may finally see the light of day in September.

"Half-Life 2, another PC title. Its been a long time coming since we've had two great PC titles in one quarter, and that is expected to debut in September," said a spokesperson for the company.

While obviously not a definitive confirmation of the game's release, retailers sometimes get the heads-up ahead of media--and with Valve slowly trickling out specs and info, a September release would be fairly reasonable at this point.

In related news, unconfirmed rumors have been floating about once again of a leak, this time with the game's script. If in fact true, it wouldn't likely cause another delay, as it was purportedly mistakenly distributed over Valve's Steam distribution service. Nevertheless, if it was actually leaked, it would serve up another embarrassment to the company, having already faced scrutiny over the theft of its source code around the same time last year.
