To hype its upcoming Zoo Tycoon 2, Microsoft allows users to decide the best zoo in the nation.

In preparing to release Zoo Tycoon 2 for the PC, Microsoft Game Studios today announced that it is searching for "America's Favorite Zoo," and will give $25,000 to the zoo that gets the most votes on the official Zoo Tycoon website.

75 zoos have been invited by a panel of expert judges to participate in the nationwide contest, and those who go onto the website and vote from September 20 to October 15 will determine the top five finalists. Users can then vote for the winner from October 18 to November 2. The winner will be announced on the final day, which will receive a $25,000 grant.

"Zoos are the gateway of information and exploration to some of the most precious and scarce animals on the planet," said Ben Arndt, marketing manager for Microsoft Game Studios. "In participating in the 'Zoo Tycoon' search for America's Favorite Zoo, animal lovers across the country can recognize and help contribute to their favorite zoo, thus furthering our efforts to improve animal care and revitalize zoo habitats."

Voters will be able to enter a sweepstakes to win a variety of prizes. Details will be unveiled in the future at the official site.
