In a step to show that the game is finally coming out, minimum and recommended specs are announced.
Valve has announced the minimum and recommended PC specs for its upcoming first-person shooter Half-Life 2, which will see a release sometime by the end of this year. With minimum specs higher than what was announced last year, a PC will need to have a 1.2Ghz processor, 256MB of RAM and a DirectX 7 capable graphics card--up from last year's 700Mhz processor and TNT2 graphics card. Valve recommends a 2.4Ghz processor, 512Mb of RAM and a DirectX 9 card for those who want to maximize the visual eye-candy.The company has also announced a beta for Counter-Strike: Source, an updated version to the original immensely popular online game that runs on the Half-Life 2 engine. The beta will initially be available to Valve's Cyber Cafe Program subscribers, and will later be available to those who bought Counter-Strike: Condition Zero.
Distributed through Valve's Steam online content delivery system, the beta will open up later this summer.
