Online retail sites list demon-busting shooter for a closer release date.
According to GameStop and EB Games, Doom 3 for the PC will purportedly hit retailer shelves on August 3rd, with GameStop displaying a large banner on the home page saying "just announced."Release dates on online retail sites are somewhat of a mixed bag--sometimes game companies do tip them earlier than press, and sometimes they seemingly arbitrarily assign a release, which keeps getting pushed back till the actual release. However, the willingness of GameStop to say "just announced" may indicate that they did in fact get the info straight from the source.
The announcement doesn't affect the Xbox release, which is still slated for shipment sometime during the holiday season.
