Alienware, Stardock and The Skins Factory Partner for Custom-Themed PCs

Alienware PCs to come pre-installed with customized Windows desktops.

Alienware has announced that it has formed a partnership with Stardock, a company that specializes in customizing the Windows PC desktop, and The Skins Factory, a design interface firm, to provide a pre-installed customized Windows desktops for Alienware PCs.

Under the terms of the agreement, Alienware will pre-install Theme Manager from Stardock on all of its new systems. Theme Manager is a program that allows users to change the Window's visual style, icons, and wallpaper, and will allow Alienware users to choose from a special Alienware theme, an ALX computer line theme, and the default Windows XP theme. Additional themes will be available as fee-based or free downloads.

The themes are being designed by The Skins Factory, which has done interface design work for companies including Microsoft, Warner Bros. Pictures, Electronic Arts.

"Alienware has always strived to offer our customers the best variety of customization options, including their choice of distinctive cases," said Frank Azor, Senior Vice President at Alienware. "Through our partnership with Stardock and The Skins Factory, we are now able to offer customization options for the PC desktop as well."
