ATI and SK Telecom Provide 3D Technology for Mobile Phones

3D content service GIGA to provide 3D games to users.
ATI SK Telecom announced an agreement to jointly develop the 3D content service platform named GIGA (Graphic Instruction Graphic Acceleration), and work with select cell phone manufacturers and 3D content developers to produce games. Cell phones for the GIGA platform will be powered by ATI's Imageon 2300 processor, enabling users to play 3D games."Thanks to the dedicated hardware 3D acceleration in the IMAGEON processor, users of GIGA service will experience on cellular handsets the similar visual quality and 3D gaming performance they have had on PCs and game consoles," said Dr. Wonhee, Sull, Vice President of Platform R&D Center, SK Telecom.
SK Telecom plans to launch the 3D game service in Korea in early Q4 2004.
