Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy Announced for Xbox and PS2

Midway renames its third-person mind-bending action game.

Midway has announced today that the game know as ESPionage has been renamed to Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy. It is scheduled for release on both the Xbox and PS2.

You will take on the role of Nick Scyrer, an elite U.S. Psi-ops solider whose mission is to infiltrate The Movement, a terrorist organization bent on bringing about a worldwide revolution. The game boasts non-linear gameplay, allowing you to pass levels using different methods and strategies. Some of the psychic powers featured are:

  • Telekinesis - The ability to pick up people or objects and move, throw, or smash them in any direction.
  • Pyrokinesis - The ability to launch a wall of fire that ignites everything in its path.
  • Mind Control - The ability to take control of enemy bodies and use them to solve puzzles, do surveillance or attack other enemies.
  • Remote Viewing - The ability to go out of body to see through walls or doors.
  • Mind Drain - The ability to drain Psi power from enemies, which results in death to the victim.
  • Aura View - The ability to see elements, enemies and clues that aren't visible in the real world.
In addition to your mind powers, you will have more conventional weaponry at your disposal like sniper rifles, pistols, flamethrowers and rocket launchers. Much emphasis is also placed on the story, with over 50 minutes of full-motion video that slowly unravel Nick Scyrer's origin of his powers.

Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy is scheduled for release in summer 2004.
