Play Mario Kart Over the Internet

You thought Mario Kart can?t be played online? Some creative hackers have changed that

Hackers with an entrepreneurial spirit have devised a way to enable GameCube owners to play Mario Kart: Double Dash over the internet by modifying the game's LAN mode. Although Mario Kart does not allow for online play, it does allow people who have a broadband adaptor to link up the consoles on a LAN and play head to head games. New software, called Warp Pipe, fools the game into thinking that the broadband internet connection is a local network connection. A similar exploit was done with the Halo game on the Xbox. Being an unofficial endeavor, Warp Pipe still has some bugs and stability issues to quash.

Mario Kart: Double Dash! is set for release next month.
