Star Wars Galaxies reaches 275,000 users

The second-largest MMORPG user base in the United States, and still not a Jedi in sight.

Since its release on June 26, Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided has quickly grown into one of the largest MMORPGs in the United States, trailing only EverQuest. Today, LucasArts released a statement saying that the Galaxies now has over 275,000 registered users, making it another hit safely under the belts of both LucasArts and Sony Online Entertainment.

Simon Jeffery, president of LucasArts, promised that the best was yet to come, with new features and content coming down the pipeline for players, with hints at a possible upcoming expansion. ?We'll soon be introducing new features and content that will enhance the experience for existing players as well as casual gamers or Star Wars fans who might be new to the MMO genre,? said Jeffery, though no date more specific than ?the coming months? was given for the upgrades.
