PlanetSide to Expand in October

Go underground with PlanetSide: Core Combat.

With over 60,000 subscribers continually waging war on its servers, Sony?s PlanetSide has answered critics? questions about the viability of a massively multiplayer online first person shooter. And now, Sony Online Entertainment has announced an expansion pack to the game, entitled PlanetSide: Core Combat, available both at retail and for download.

In addition to the current ten continents, Core Combat will add six underground war zones to the mix, adding a subterranean element to the largely open terrain of PlanetSide. New environments will also abound, from lava flows to ice caves and underground cities, while Sony also promises to introduce new alien technology to the mix, adding new vehicles, weapons, and facility upgrades.

PlanetSide: Core Combat will come out in October, though no official date or retail price has yet been announced. For more information, check out Sony?s official Core Combat site.
