Square Enix releases Final Fantasy XI PC details

Square Enix talks about price and PS2-PC connectivity.

With Final Fantasy XI?s North American launch fast approaching, Square Enix released a few choice tidbits about its online RPG, including price and system requirements. PC owners will be happy to know that the Rise of the Zilart expansion pack will come with the base game for no extra charge. However, what they may balk at is the extra charge Square Enix imposes on top of the standard $12.95 monthly fee. For every character players want beyond the first, they will have to pay an additional dollar a month, a charge that few, if any, current online RPGs exact from players wishing for variety. Another interesting note is that once PS2 gamers get Final Fantasy XI in the states-which won?t happen until the PS2 hard drive is released-they will be able to play on the same servers as PC gamers, a feature many Phantasy Star Online veterans will envy and enjoy.

Final Fantasy XI for the PC will launch in late October, while the PS2 version has yet to be given a solid release date.
