This latest batch of screenshots from Castlevania: Lament of Innocence?the first set Konami's released since the Electronic Entertainment Expo last spring?reveals how closely the 3D game sticks to its 2D roots, as seen in countless fine games from the NES on up. Series fans will note all sorts of old enemies?including skeleton columns, Medusa heads, and the usual rooms full of spikes?while those who've never played Castlevania in their life will note what appears to be a solid 3D action game, sort of like Devil May Cry except without quite as much pretentiousness.Castlevania: Lament of Innocence is due to hit U.S. PlayStation 2s in mid-November.
