More Rainbow Six 3 Screenshots

New shots added 7/23!

The good news for Xbox users today doesn't end with Unreal II?Ubi Soft announced that Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3, latest in their series of tactical shooters, is a console-exclusive for the Xbox this year. The game will hit the Xbox (and only the Xbox) in time for Christmas; this exclusivity lasts for the rest of 2003, so it's likely gamers will see ports to other systems early next year.

"We are excited about our new partnership with Microsoft," said Ubi head Yves Guillemot in a release. "The same kind of exclusive agreement was a tremendous success for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, which ended up being the top-selling Xbox game in 2002. With the Xbox's proven gaming potential and the recent addition of the Xbox Live service, we expect even greater things for Rainbow Six 3!"

The Xbox, which Ubi now calls its "lead development platform" for Rainbow Six 3, will let the development team throw in dynamic lighting, soft-body physics, 5.1 Dolby surround sound, and all the other bits you'd expect high-end Xbox titles to have. Support's in the works for multiplayer games and downloadable content via the Xbox Live service, and the title will also use voice-recognition technology to let you bark orders to your CPU teammates via the Xbox headset in offline games.

More information will arrive once the release date draws nearer.
