MechAssault Goes Multi-National

Now you can play Japanese gamers online!

Microsoft announced on the official Japanese Xbox homepage today that a new update to the Asian version of MechAssault will allow Japanese Xbox Live users to play multiplayer matches against overseas opponents for the first time. The software upgrade, which is available right now and applied automatically when you sign on, allows Japanese players to challenge U.S. players and join Microsoft's international ranking table. (Japanese people could see the rankings before, but they couldn't participate in them directly until now.)

MechAssault, released in Japan last month and the U.S. last fall, has been one of Microsoft's shining examples in the field of Xbox Live updates?gamers have downloaded three rounds of extra maps and robots since launch, the latest wave of which was unleashed online in June.
