Star Wars Galaxies Coming Next Week

LucasArts announces a release date and some pricing plans.
LucasArts announced today that Star Wars Galaxies, their ambitious yet oft-delayed MMORPG, will be released for the PC on June 26?next Thursday, in other words. The regular edition of the game will cost $49.95 and come with a free month's worth of online play; if you're feeling lavish, you can also buy the $79.95 "collector's edition" that includes an artbook, lapel pin, autographed manual, pewter figurine, and other assorted extras. The PlayStation 2 and Xbox ports of Star Wars Galaxies are still on hiatus.The subscription options for LucasArts' latest are a little complicated, so pay attention: the month-to-month rate for online access is $14.99 a month, but you can get discounts on this rate if you buy play time in larger chunks. Three months of access costs $42 ($14 per month), six months cost $78 ($13 per month), and a year of online play will run you $144 ($12 per month), a 20 percent discount off the basic rate.
