Viewtiful Joe Complete

Capcom prepares the final countdown.

A new column posted on Capcom's official Japanese homepage revealed today that Viewtiful Joe, their GameCube action title and one of the most visually striking games of the past few years, is complete and ready for mastering up.

"It's finally, finally over!" wrote producer Hideki Kamiya in today's column. "I'm just passing the time relaxing now, rubbing my shoulders and looking forward to Joe's release, but we really went through a lot to get to this point. We had to go through all sorts of twists and turns to get the project complete, and the road was filled with lots of difficulties, but then that's the fun part about creating an original game. It's all nothing but fond memories now."

To celebrate the game's completion, Capcom is holding test-play events at four different locations in Tokyo and Osaka, starting tomorrow and going on through the following weekend. Japanese gamers who preorder Joe during this time will receive an exclusive T-shirt featuring Joe in all his jump-kicking glory.

The game itself will hit stores June 26 in Japan and sometime mid-October in the U.S.
