Sega Closes Dreamcast Online Servers

Everything except PSO is offline as of right now.
In a statement posted to their support page today, Sega announced that it will be disconnecting online support for the majority of the Dreamcast's game library. Effective this month, the only games you'll be able to play online with your DC are Phantasy Star Online and its sequel, Phantasy Star Online Version 2. Everything elseincluding Alien Front Online, Quake, Chu Chu Rocket, and so forthwill be unavailable for online play."We hope you enjoyed our online gaming services that were extended six months beyond the original shutdown date," Sega said in the statement. "Thank you for supporting Dreamcast online gaming!"
The shutdown of the Dreamcast's online servers is historically significant because Sega's final game console was the first ever to include a built-in modem that supported network play out of the box. Phantasy Star Online, the Dreamcast's most popular online title, may fade away on the DC but will still live on in its GameCube and Xbox incarnations.
