A Peek Into Namco's Future

A new game in the Tales series?hopefully that GameCube one they've been telling us about?will be revealed soon. Meanwhile, the Tekken and Ace Combat teams are hiring.

Although it's been a while since we've heard much major news from Namco Hometek, their Japanese parent company is blasting into high gear with several fairly big-name projects at once. The first hint of what's to come was posted up on their Tales homepage today, and the news should be what fans of Namco's anime-and-button-mashing RPG series were waiting for: a new console Tales game will be unveiled on March 20. Next Thursday, in other words. Exactly what this game is?whether it's a port of an older title to the PS2, or that brand-new GameCube Tales game Namco's mentioned here and there?is unknown, but judging by Namco's hype, it's definitely something big.

Meanwhile, meandering over to their help-wanted page, we can't help but notice that the development teams behind the Tekken and Ace Combat series are both looking for several people in the fields of motion-capture, game design, graphics, and visual support. Eagle-eyed GamePro.com readers have already known for a while that a new Ace Combat was in the works, but the fact that the Tekken team's expanding?not to mention the fact that there's still any Tekken team at all?seems to imply some sort of new game in the works. A console-only Tekken 5, maybe, or a new adventure starring all the characters?
