Tecmo will fill a gaping hole in the PS2's games library this March with Gallop Racer 2003, a very different sort of racing game than what you've played before.
Tecmo sent word over the weekend that they are about to answer the fervent needs of millions (okay, thousands) of PlayStation 2 owners across America with the system's very first horse racing game. Called Gallop Racer 2003: A New Breed, the sequel to Gallop Racer 2001 on the original PlayStation will come out late March and is available for preorder directly from Tecmo's own website. The retail price is $49.99.While we know that not many gamers out there have ever entertained the thought of buying a game about breeding horses and whipping them into shape on the racetrack, Gallop Racer 2003 might be a good intro to the genre for curious folk. Although the basic process is the same?pick a jockey, build a strong stable, and make your fortune by winning races?this game's got a training mode this time that walks you through basic gameplay with a series of classes. You can also bet on the races while placing your own horses into the game's season mode in this upgrade, using any winnings you earn to buy thoroughbreds and upgrade your training facilities.
Stick around for more info on Gallop Racer 2003 soon. According to Tecmo, the game "will only be sold in select stores and for a limited time," so keep a sharp eye out for it, all right?
