She?s almost ready to go, and my, does Samus look good. Screens and impressions inside!
Samus is back, and many GamePros have already put Metroid Prime on their best of 2002 lists. It?s easy to see why just from the first level.Much like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Samus starts the game with a bunch of toys for you to play with?the Morph Ball, the Grapple Beam, Missile Launcher and Charge Beam all see extensive use. But in an explosion, most of these features are damaged and disabled, forcing Samus to revert to her scan visor and natural abilities until she regains her old functions and finds new ones. The graphics for many of these effects were especially impressive?note how space warps and distorts around the Charge Beam when it?s fired, for example.
The screens below represent only a tiny portion of the game?stay tuned for D-Pad Destroyer?s review next week.
