They sign with the guys behind the videos to make a game based on this "sport." Soon you too will be jumping off roofs and body-slamming people on park benches.
Eidos Interactive announced the signing of a new deal today with Backyard Wrestling Inc. to develop and publish video games based on the "Too Hot For TV" amateur wrestling videos the company produces. No game details or release dates were announced yet, but the news ought to put a charge into anyone who thought that backyard wrestling was too niche (or silly) to make a good game."An explosive, action-packed video game is the perfect extension to our top-selling Best of Backyard Wrestling video brand," said BYW head Houston Curtis. "[Eidos] understands that Backyard Wrestling isnt just another wrestling or fighting game, but a pop-culture phenomenon unlike anything the world has ever seen. We believe this partnership will result in a mind-blowing, ground-breaking gaming experience that will deliver the incredible in-your-face action our fans have come to expect, combined with a unique sense of depth into our wildly outrageous world of Backyard Wrestling mayhem."
BYW is the outfit responsible for the ultra-violent Backyard Wrestling video series, which includes such hot hits as The Best of Backyard Wrestling 4: Random Acts of Violence and The Best of Backyard Wrestling Special Edition: The Backyard Babes Behind-The-Scenes Uncensored. They're working on three more videos right now, which we'll undoubtedly be seeing advertised relentlessly on late night TV while we watch Ghostbusters. Or worse.
