The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, coming to every platform in existence next fall, will attempt to outdo everything that's been done with horror in video games.
Although the cat's been out of the bag, so to speak, for a little while now, The 3DO Company officially unveiled The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse today, a new horror adventure with some very noticeable talent behind it. It's due to come out on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Nintendo GameCube and PC sometime during the fall of 2003.The four riders of the title are Pestilence, War, Famine, and Death, and not only are they actual people, they are also rather angry at Planet Earth, packing it full of dark demons and possessed monsters. As modern archangel Abaddon, it'll be your job to make it through 18 hellish levels, tracking down three people?a prostitute, a serial killer and a corrupt politician?chosen by God to fight the scourge and save the world.
3DO is showing The Four Horsemen off at the San Diego Comic-Con 2002 over this weekend, and for very good reason, too?Simon Bisley and Dave DeVries, two artists already pretty well known in the comic biz, are doing the character designs and game art, including the comic-style intermissions between game sections. Tim Curry, Traci Lords and a few other movie stars will voice the main characters, and the Smashcut Action Team (a Hollywood outfit that coordinated the combat sequences from Fight Club and the upcoming Matrix flicks) will be providing finishing moves and other impressive bits of violence for the game.
All that's available right now for The Four Horsemen is some nice looking concept art drawn by Bisley and crew. 3DO should have some more media coming soon, so keep in touch.
