Rockstar Working on Midnight Club II

The early PS2 racer and current Greatest Hit gets a PS2-exclusive sequel. Now you can race down the streets of Tokyo and Paris without getting deported.

Rockstar Games confirmed today that a sequel to Midnight Club, one of the PlayStation 2's first racing games, is in the works. The new Midnight Club 2, set to take place in Los Angeles, Paris and Tokyo, is currently in development for the PS2 only. No release date was announced.

"Midnight Club turned a lot of heads at the launch of the PlayStation 2 with its frantic gameplay, open plan racing and unique attitude," says Dan Houser, Creative Director of Rockstar Games. "With Midnight Club 2, we're pushing the boundaries even further by adding more cities, tricked out vehicles, stylized characters and a myriad of extra features to keep the series moving forward. With a slick interface and a truly original approach, Midnight Club 2 stands in a class of its own."
