Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker could get a PlayStation Network release

The release date for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is a little over a month away, but the game may have a future beyond the PlayStation Portable. GamePro contributor Ben PerLee describes an interesting interlude during his Peace Walker Bootcamp experience.

"So after I had done the preview, [Konami] had a Q/A session with us to get our complaints/ideas about the game," PerLee reported. "Other than the basics, they asked what we thought about if they released it on PSN for the PS3 as well and had online multiplayer."

While it's not uncommon for a developer to ask journalists these focus-group questions, it is interesting to note that the Konami representative asking the questions actually wrote down the answers. It could just be that the developer wants to anticipate criticisms of the game in forthcoming reviews, or it could be research for Hideo Kojima's new mystery project. Or there could indeed be a PSN release for Peace Walker farther down the line.

So we have to ask, based on what you know about the game, would you want Peace Walker on PSN instead of PSP?

It's an instant purchase for me if it hits the PSN as a PS3 downloadable game.

I think I'd be more likely to play it PSN. I really can't get away with any kind of stealth game on my PSP -- commuter life is just to hectic. Even the BS "stealth" mission in Crisis Core was too much O.o;

I think it'd be great since the PSP doesn't really have the necessary structure in place to support a robust online game.

as long as there add the ability to play it with the PS3 controller like Retrubution, it'll be great

A-ha! Yes! My tweet to Mr. Kojima worked!... unless this Boot Camp event occurred before April 30th...

Then again, this has been a request by many western fans of the MGS series for the past few months. The US just isn't designed to work with games like DQ9 or MH like it is in Japan where there's an acceptance and expectation of ad-hoc play.

So to answer your question Mr. Article-writer, yes, I do want my Peace Walker on Playstation Network, and no, I do not care about low-res textures and polygons, as this would allow for some full-HD *split-screen Co-Op!

(*Hopefully!)
