Rockstar has released its award-winning portable crime sim Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on the iPhone today for $10.

GTA: Chinatown Wars comes to iPhone today

Grand Theft Auto Chinatown wars has earned plenty of critical acclaim, earning high scores for both its DS and PSP iterations. Unfortunately, that hasn't translated into stellar sales figures, leading us to award the title as "Best Game No One Bought" in our 2009 awards. Rockstar Games is attempting to remedy that in 2010, as the company has released Chinatown Wars on another top-selling portable platform--the iPhone.

The iPhone version of Chinatown Wars will sell for $10--far lower than the previous two versions that have been released. It is, however, much higher than many of the iPhone's most popular games, some of which sell for as low as one or two dollars. With the game promising to deliver the same gameplay experience as the other versions while providing new features like custom soundtrack support (according to Rockstar), this may just be the platform where the game finds prosperity. You can purchase the game by using this iTunes link. Anyone planning on buying this version?

Awesome.

I have yet to play the game, but I'd much rather have it for my PSP or DS. I'm a little skeptical of copying the game to a touch screen-only handheld.

All the reviews say it's good, but I'm a little skeptical. Not sure how the controls would exactly work out. Would be willing to try a lite version and give my opinion from there, but for now, I'll wait for a price drop before I buy it.

Like any iPhone game with an on-screen, touch-based d-pad it takes a little getting used to, but it's actually pretty responsive. The touchscreen implementation of all the minigames is really well done. Stuff like the scratch cards and hotwiring work really well, just as they did on the DS, but they seem to have been tweaked to feel right with your finger rather than a stylus.

If the Developers would stop being retarded and release their games on the android market Hell Ya! Until then screw rockstar, EA, & everyone else who abandoned the droid!

I can see the iPhone market openening the GTA-franchise to a completely new audience. Would be funny, if the other GTA-games see a sudden boost in the next months, wouldn't it?
