2 Million Xbox Live users link to Facebook
- November 24, 2009 11:56 AM PST
Microsoft reveals first-week figures for new social networking services integrated into Xbox Live.
If you have an Xbox Live account, chances are you're one of 2 million gamers that linked your Facebook account to the service in the past week. According to a Microsoft spokesperson, nearly 10 percent of all Live users tried out the feature since it was activated, and a further half million Last.fm accounts were created in the past 24 hours because of the Xbox update. According to Microsoft, Xbox users have already streamed 120 million minutes of music from the service.
Have you used any of the new services? Some gamers have complained that the implementation of Facebook is too limited in its current form, and that it doesn't fully leverage the networking potential of the service. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.

Somehow Im not to surprised. Lots of people use facebook and lots use Xbox 360's so why not? Just to use it real well you might wanna consider the text messaging kit keyboard thingy for the xbox controller.

I got in with the beta a while ago. I tried Facebook once with it and haven't used it since. Navigation isn't all that great, and it doesn't have the same speed of just getting on with a computer. But then again, my laptop and TV that I have my 360 hooked up to are less than 5 feet from each other so I can just pause my game and get on Facebook if needed. I don't have twitter so I don't use that. The only beneficial thing I found from the update was Last .fm because it gives me a lot of live recordings from the songs I have which is pretty cool.

I'm a big fan of the Xbox Live-Facebook account linking (it shows the XBL accounts for your FB friends, and vice-versa). It's allowed me to add new friends to both services.
If Twitter added the same functionality, I'd scream like a schoolgirl.

Seriously!? Do people really desire to have another way to be connected thru Facebook now? I like the Last.FM but the Facebook thing is a bit much for Facebook addicts. Smart move though MS.

I downloaded facebook to my 360. The only good thing was viewing my photo albums on my TV. The real issue is that facebook on the computer has zero Xbox integration. Why not allow for achievement tracking to your facebook profile?

I started a facebook account when the update on the 360 came. It's nice to see people I havn't seen in years. Don't know how much I will use it, but every now and again I could see me posting pictures of my newborn daughter, my wife and me. Life in general!!! I could see it as a bad thing if people from your past that you don't want to know any more find you... Plus they have these weird games farmvile, and a fish tank game??? my mom plays these games and i'm already tell all these people to play some real games... LOL

They do have one for facebook. Look up Xbox 360 Live Gamercard on facebook apps. Only bad thing is that you have to manually update it. I just remembered I had it from your comment and it still said the last game I played was MW2, but I haven't played it in a week due to Assassin's Creed 2.
