A new version of Mass Effect 2's box art has been revealed by BioWare, showcasing a different set of characters alongside Commander Shepard.

Turns out BioShock 2 wasn't the only highly-anticipated 2010 sequel to receive gorgeous new box art this week. BioWare revealed on its official Mass Effect site Mass Effect 2, the January-due sequel to the epic space-RPG Mass Effect, has had its box art renovated with the new cover shown above.

This is a marked departure from the original box art, shown below, which featured a more sedated image of Commander Shepard and a different cast of sidekicks. With the various characters getting closer shots and Shepard being shown alongside them, it seems to highlight the "build a squad that can survive" aspect of Mass Effect 2 that has been trumpeted in the last few months.

I don't care for it, plus I can't figure out which actress that girl resembles.

Not like it matters to me, I'm getting the Collector's Edition.

the original boxart looks better. BioShock 2 is the one that needs a better box art.

Tia Carrera looks hot, that chic on the box art looks constiplated. Anyway, it's ok art but nothing as cool as Castlevania box art.
