NPD: Uncharted 2 leads October sales, Wii outsells PS3

The NPD numbers for October 2009 have been released, and Uncharted 2 leads game sales, while the Wii's price drop caused the system to become October's top seller.
We've just received the NPD sales results for October 2009, and it looks the new releases and price drops have brought about some big changes on the charts. On the hardware side, in the Wii's first full month at $200, Nintendo's console managed to outsell every other system, including the DS. The PlayStation 3's sales cooled significantly in its second price-dropped month, as the system went from selling almost 500,000 consoles to a little over 300,000. That's almost a 40 percent drop. Meanwhile, the PSP Go did little to change Sony's fortune for October, as PSP sales actually dropped compared to September. The Xbox 360 also saw a lull in sales, as the system sold around 100,000 less units than it did in September. Here is the entire hardware rankings for October.

3: Sony PlayStation 3--320,600
4: Microsoft Xbox 360--249,700
5: Sony PSP--174,600
6: Sony PlayStation 2--117,800
Fate was definitely shining in Sony's direction when it came to software, however, as the top selling game for October was a Sony exclusive--Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Lauded by critics, the game also managed to draw customers, as it sold 537,000 copies in a little over two weeks after its October 13 releases. Wii Fit returned to the top ten in the form of Wii Fit Plus. The updated semi-sequel, which replaced Wii Fit on store shelves and sold standalone for $20, sold 441,000 units. According to NPD's Anita Frazier, the sales were a split between Balance Board bundled and standalone, bringing many new users to the franchise while also drawing in a fair amount of pre-existing fans. Other new titles making the top ten this month included the Xbox 360 version of Borderlands, both console versions of NBA 2K10, Forza Motorsport 3, and FIFA 2010 for Xbox 360. Notable in its absence is Brutal Legend, which failed to crack the top ten despite a strong mainstream media presence. Here are the software results:

what now 360 fanboys? you all said that Halo 3 odst will beat Uncharted 2, well guess what, the better game came out on top. and you fanboys also said "of course the PS3 won, it had a price drop." well guess what, again? all 3 consoles had price drops and ps3 still kicked your sorry asses! but will won overall :( but wtf do you expect with a $200 console.

Gaming sales suck right now. Last year Wii broke all time records for sales (in Nov.). While looking at this I doubt it will be the same next month.

i got this game n this game suk big time the story mode is good but the online suk i give up on this game already wish i never got the dam game

Really? You're saying a game that just came out beat a game that came out last month? Wow nice use of logic. I don't mean this sarcastic at all.* I think what you said makes perfect sense.
As for what console sells the most I could care less because, I'm just happy that the game industry is doing so good. I say good job to the PS3. I'm hoping to get one sometime soon so that I'll have all three consoles.

There are some great Wii games coming out soon. Super Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid and New SMB Wii. Those three alone have me excited. LOL.

As much as I truly hate to this, ODST sold over a million in its first month, wasn't a full game and sold for same price. More 360's out there I know, but still uncharted 2 was amazing and ODST still beat it. Doubt for very long as many probly are aware now of how bad a rip off ODST was if they had Halo 3 already.

Fuck. I did not even expect Halo ODST to even be on this list. Halo games like MW/MW2 are usually games that I would figure would sell the most the first day or first week. You really should examine your life.

that my friend is where you are wrong. Uncharted 2 sold over a million in its first month too, so shut up. ODST did not beat it.
