The "father of the PlayStation" is connected to a new startup in Japan that is very vaguely described as "developing next generation Internet services."
A report in the Japanese Nikkei newspaper today reveals that former Sony Computer Entertainment chairman and CEO (and widely acknowledged as the "father" of the PlayStation brand) is involved in a new startup company called Cyber Ai Entertainment that is developing "new Internet services technology." Very few details have been revealed so far, but given Kuturagi's previous expressions of interest in online technology and the viability of connected entertainment, it seems likely that the project could be some kind of "cloud" based service that runs entertainment content from remote servers. All this is pure speculation at this point, however. Regardless, it seems that Kuturagi is most definitely not retiring and quietly disappearing as some had thought he might.
