They may be engaging in the biggest sports event of the fall right now, but soon Cole Hamels and Nick Swisher will be competing in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2!
This is slightly more dangerous than baseball.
As I write this, Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels and Yankees players Nick Swisher and Jerry Hairston are both in Philadelphia, PA, taking part in Major League Baseball's largest event, the World Series (fill disclosure: go Phils!). In a week, though, at least one of the three men will have bragging rights as the World Series will have concluded, and the remaining player or players will be able to extract revenge, using Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, as the three players are scheduled to appear at a Modern Warfare 2 pre-launch event in New York City, according to Game Informer.
With the World Series dying down by that point, and the constant stream of mini-controversies over Modern Warfare 2's potential terrorism, homophobia (via Destructoid), and... get ready for it... lack of voice chat (via Joystiq), hopefully slowing, it should be interesting to see what the event will bring. Oh, and what do you know? I'll be in New York next Monday. Hopefully I'll be able to get in--I never get invited to the cool parties.
