We've received a new Mass Effect 2 image in our email inbox today. In honor of Halloween, BioWare and EA passed along the above screenshot with the text "To celebrate this spooky occasion, the Mass Effect 2 team has put together a brand new image [...] that explores the darker side of Commander Shepard."

Time will tell whether this is a clever holiday costume or an image that genuinely reflects the events of Mass Effect 2, but considering the potential endings (via Destructoid) that we've heard can come into play in the game, we're willing to consider any outcome valid. Thankfully, we won't have to wait long, as the game releases on January 26 of next year. In the meantime, you can download a wallpaper version of the above image at masseffect.bioware.com.
