The first bundle drops today with two new mashups, but is it worth the extra cost?
Two new DJ Hero tracks are available for download on XBox 360 and PS3 this morning, and the same content will be available on Wii when the second package of DLC is released next month. Eager turntablists can now purchase a bundle featuring "All Of Me" by 50 Cent (featuring Mary J. Blige) mixed with "Radio Ga Ga" by Queen and "DARE" by Gorillaz mashed with Public Enemy's "Can't Truss It" on PSN or the LIVE Marketplace for $5.99.
Due to technical limitations, Wii owners will have to wait until Nov. 24th to access the new content.
According to a recent IGN interview with Chris Hines (Commercial Director of FreeStyle Games) the developer is planning to release at least three more mixes in late November that feature newcomer David Guetta, and Hines notes that FreeStyle intends to bring more new artists to the DJ Hero track list. Hines turns cagey when the topic of new characters or turntable/guitar mixes comes up, stating only that it's something the developer is "looking into" for future DLC.
Hines claims more DLC is coming, justifies delay with 'we wanted to ensure that our fans had a desire for content.'
When asked about the added expense of DJ Hero DLC when compared to Guitar Hero or Rock Band tracks, Hines cites the cost of licensing multiple songs per track and hiring a professional DJ to mix the content as justification for the increased cost. Those willing to shell out for the new content should keep an eye out for the Guetta Mix Pack scheduled to release on November 24th, which features mashups of "Sexy Bitch," "On The Dance Floor" and "Love Takes Over" for $7.99. Due to technical limitations, on the same day all DJ Hero DLC tracks will become available for individual purchase on the Wii version's in-game store for $3.00 apiece.

I see there being a higher licensing cost, but it's also Activision, and they haven't exactly put themselves in good graces toward pricing lately, so I think skepticism is fully in order. Yet another reason DJ Hero isn't going to be the cash cow they thought it would be.

Makes sense, I mean, there are 2 songs per DL and 1 GH song was 2 bucks each.
