Financial services company Credit Suisse has apparently revealed that the Rock Band series wont begin to turn a profit until 2010.
A recent post on gaming community site The Kartel has revealed that a recent report from Credit Suisse has projected that the Rock Band series is still currently unprofitable, currently having lost parent company Viacom over $90 million.
While the series has been on the winning end of the battle of the bands of late, The Kartel points out a variety of factors leading to the defecit, including a high purchase price for Harmonix, sizable performance-based bonuses, low margins, and high royalties for The Beatles: Rock Band.
Fortunately, for music game fans, it seems as though the series will be headed towards the black in 2010, as Credit Suisse apparently is forecasting a profit next year. With the series only increasing in quality, and the very intriguing Rock Band Network (official site) coming in the next few months, the future does indeed look bright for the video game supergroup.

well, shit i wonder why. unlike Guitar Hero in the early days when it was just the Guitar, Rock Band came forth with an entire play set, so its more likely that they wouldn't be able to recover their losses, especially since its price of $200+ was steep for that kind of game.

Plus anyone who has to pay to license the Beatles material is going to come out on the losing end.

Its upsetting that the inferior Guitar Hero sells better than Rock Band with the exception of Beatles RB out selling GH5. Give us Led Zeppelin Rock Band!

B.O.R.I.N.G. I don't know how many people have the patience to play 15-minute guitar solo's over and over... UGH kill me, I'm so glad guitar solo's don't make musician's "genius's" anymore... I like that one guys idea about Rock Band: Megedeath hahahaha. But personally, I could give two-sh*t's about the entire franchise.
