Xbox Live Facebook, Twitter features getting public beta

If you want to start tweeting and sending Facebook updates via Xbox Live before the rest of your friends, Microsoft is running a beta for select members. Sign up now!

Xbox Live Facebook, Twitter features getting public beta

Lady, you have some boring-ass friends.

As they are wont to do every time they near completion of adding new features, Microsoft is once again giving select Xbox Live members a crack at checking out the latest version of the Xbox 360 Dashboard before the public at large.

The process works exactly as it has in the past--you go to a registration site, sign in with your Windows Live ID, answer some questions about your internet connection and other Xbox Live-relevant information, and pray to the beta gods (having a Xbox Live Gold account helps). If you miss out, you can still expect to see a roundup of the new features on GamePro a few days before the public beta starts (much like we've done before), as well as a handful of Xbox Live tweets from yours truly.

You can find out more about the Xbox Live Preview Program via Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb's blog post, which is conspicuously devoid of Last.fm mentions. Hopefully it'll still be part of the next update--I've sent word to Major Nelson himself asking about that.

I read an article about this update on another website. Apparently none of the 3 social network sites will be able to be used during gameplay, which kinda stinks but they may add that feature in a later update. Last.fm would be the most useful during gameplay.

I tried signing up for this, but as usual microsoft can't make something that works properly. The website keeps coming up with an error message. i filled everything out on the survey and I'm even using Microsoft's own Internet explorer 8. I'm waiting for the last.fm update and that doesn't appear to be in this update. I may not even bother becuase I hardly eveer use Facebook and I hate Twitter. Twitter has become the most annoying thing on the internet and I don't want it on a gaming console. I don't see why Microsoft just doesn't make a web browser for the 360.
