Black Wii controllers, MotionPlus bundle coming 11/17

If New Super Mario Bros. Wii has you headed to your local game store looking for extra controllers, you'll find a new color choice on store shelves around the same time.

Black Wii controllers, MotionPlus bundle coming 11/17

The black Wii Remote Jacket might be the first one I don't tear off the controller within seconds of purchase.

Nintendo has just announced a release date for the black-colored Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers. On November 17th, American gamers will now be able to pick up another color for their extra Wii controllers. Additionally, the new Wii Remote will now come bundled with a MotionPlus add-on for $50, which is only $10 more than the non-enhanced white Wii Remote. The release date of these controllers comes only two days after Nintendo unleashes New Super Mario Bros. Wii onto the world, which will undoubtedly drive many gamers to purchase more Wii Remotes for their systems.

Unfortunately, the Wii itself is still only available in white here in the US. What's the deal, Nintendo? Didn't we have about a dozen different GameCube system colors three years after the system came out? And dont even get me started on the Nintendo 64! Anyway, here's the press release.

NINTENDO NEWS: NEW COLOR PUTS NINTENDO'S WII REMOTE AND NUNCHUK IN THE BLACK

Nintendo's iconic Wii Remote(tm) and Nunchuk(tm) controllers are getting a new look, just in time for the holidays. Ever since the Wii(tm) system launched in November 2006, the controllers have been available only in white. On Nov. 16, Nintendo introduces new black versions.

The new black Wii Remote controller will be available packaged with a black Wii MotionPlus(tm) accessory, which brings enhanced precision to games. The package will be available at a suggested retail price of $49.99. The black Nunchuk controller will be available separately at a suggested retail price of $19.99.

"The Wii Remote revolutionized not only how people play games, but also who plays them," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "The new color lets people customize their setup, and the controllers make great stocking stuffers for players of any age."

Nintendo is insanely good when it comes to marketing their products. Just look at how they are trickling out a couple of colors at a time for the DSi Consoles. These guys know how to stay relevant and know how to make people buy the same thing over and over again. I can only imagine how many people now are going to buy the black Wii controllers just to change it up from their old white ones.

Hopefully Nintendo will drop the prices for the Wiimote and nunchuck as well, 70$ is too much... hell buy three extra controllers (Wiimote and nunchuck) and you've spent enough to buy another Wii. That ain't right.

I don't understand why people get so petty with colors. If you so desperately want a black Wii or a black Wii remote just buy a damn skin.
