Developer 2D Boy is running a "pay whatever price you want" sale on the popular physics based puzzle game between now and October 19. Plus: news of an iPhone version on the way.
Mimicking the online payment model made popular by bands like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails, developer 2D Boy is celebrating the first birthday of its incredibly popular PC, Mac and Linux-based physics-based puzzler World of Goo by offering it at any price. Between now and October 19 you can head over to the 2D Boy website and pay whatever you want for the game. All three computer-based variants can be bought in this fashion, but sadly the offer does not apply to the Wii version available on WiiWare.
As you can probably imagine, an offer like this for such a well-regarded game is putting an enormous amount of strain on 2D Boy's servers, and it's almost impossible to get the page to load right now. Stick with it though! It's worth persevering and coming back to the site over the next few days to try and take advantage of this.
Going along with the birthday offer, the team also announced that they are porting the game to the iPhone, stating "It's not done and we don't have a release date yet," before commenting that "We have it running well on the iPhone 3GS, and with a little luck we hope to get it running smoothly on the 3G as well. Hopefully more news on this soon."

So, if I want to pay nothing for the game, do I get it for free? I already bought it for the Wii and would like it for my pc, but I don't want to pay for it again.

The link works... the 2D Boy site was really struggling yesterday and they set up a different system to accommodate the amount of traffic they were getting.
