New Splatterhouse devs bring darker pics, metal soundtrack

Last we heard of Splatterhouse, it had a change in developer and a delay into 2010. We're starting to see the fruits of the new teams labor, and it's even darker than before.
Namco released a new batch of screens and a smattering of new info about the delayed and developer-swapped action-horror game Splatterhouse today. Most of the information seemed to echo the direction of the previous developer, but we did find one cool tidbit in the fact sheet--the game will include a soundtrack featuring "today's most influential Heavy Metal artists," none of which were named.
The new screens do show a slightly different shift in tone. While the game has always give off a gritty and gory vibe, it seems as though the game has actually gotten darker with the change in developers. To wit--here are a few of the newest screens (you can find the entire batch on our Splatterhouse screenshot gallery):
And now here are a pair from when BottleRocket served as developer. The changes are subtle, but noticable. In the new pics, the backgrounds are darker, the enemies more disturbing, and it seems like Rick is a little bit paler. Check out the old pics, everyone, and see if you can spot any changes! I've stared at enough bloody mutilated corpses for one morning.

the only thing here that even remotely resembles vaporware are your depressing, pessimistic and consistently negative posts.
You got that whole Debbie Downer thing going for you, how ya doin' with that?

This game is actually looking decent now, for a while it looked a bit too kiddy and comedic.
