Microsoft and Nintendo have revealed their downloadable wares this week, with a classic brawler heading to the Virtual Console and this generation's best crime sim coming to Xbox 360 Games on Demand.
Columbus? Psh. Haggar is a real American!
Despite the fact that mailmen, judges, and teachers have today off, the gaming industry is taking Columbus' true vision to heart and is sailing on. To that end, Microsoft and Nintendo have announced their weekly downloadable game releases as per usual.
Announced via Major Nelson this morning, the Xbox 360 once again is getting a double dose of arcade goodness. This week, the debut Xbox Live Arcade effort from 2K Games' 2K Play label, Axel & Pixel will be joining a more established gaming duo, as the second season of Sam & Max, entitled Beyond Time and Space, will arrive on consoles over a year after the PC episodic season completed its course. Axel & Pixel will sell for 800 Microsoft Points ($10), while Sam & Max will run you 1200 Microsoft Points ($15).
In a release of the company's entire October download slate, Microsoft revealed that Grand Theft Auto IV will become a Games on Demand title this week. If the recent Platinum Hits announcement is any indication, Grand Theft Auto IV should cost $30 when it goes digital this week.
Nintendo's Wii and DSi Store additions include one WiiWare game and one DSiWare game, as will as a new addition to the virtual console. The DSi will be home to a pinball simulator called Pinball Pulse: The Ancients Beckon, while WiiWare is adding a competitive/co-operative action title called Gravitronix, the debut title from developer Medaverse Studios. The Virtual Console is being updated with the SNES' Final Fight 2--the Haggar-led sequel to the original fight against the Mad Gear Gang. Unlike the original Final Fight (which is also available on the Virtual Console), you can play this one with two players! Both Gravitronix and Pinball Pulse will cost 500 Wii/DSi Points ($5), while Final Fight 2 will set you back 800 Wii Points ($8).
Both Nintendo and Microsoft's press releases are reprinted below.

I'm still not down with games on demand. Much like my women, I prefer the physical copy as opposed to the downloadable version.
