NFL jerseys now available for Xbox Avatars

You like football, but do you like it enough to buy a virtual NFL jersey for your Xbox 360 alter-ego?

NFL jerseys now available for Xbox Avatars

Psh. True football fans paint the team's logo on their chest.

Xbox spokesman Major Nelson has just posted a new Xbox Live Marketplace item on his blog, with over 60 new clothing items available to outfit your Avatar with. Sold as Madden NFL 10-based items, every NFL team now has their official jersey available in both male and female fits. The jerseys run 320 Microsoft Points ($4) each, and can be previewed on marketplace.xbox.com.

Microsoft has made premium clothing items related to other games available, including a Star Wars lightsaber, Halo 3 hoodies (which this author's Avatar is currently rocking), and a Warthog RC car.

Football fans--are you willing to part with four real dollars to purchase a jersey for your avatar?

THE VERDICT by Dave Rudden Dave Rudden's Avatar

I'm not much of a football guy, so I wouldn't drop a dollar on a jersey for my avatar, let alone four. A baseball jersey for the New York Mets, on the other hand...

I don't know why Nintendo isn't monetizing their Miis. I've been screaming for Samus Aran, Link and Mario Mii costumes for ages. Put in Nintendogs and let your Mii have a pet. They could make so much money.
