South Park & new LucasArts game coming to XBLA this week
- October 05, 2009 00:00 AM PST
An original IP from LucasArts and the first console South Park game in almost a decade highlight the Xbox Live Arcade releases for this week.
Am I supposed to have any idea what's happening here?
Earlier today, the mouth of Microsoft, Major Nelson, announced this week's duet of Xbox Live Arcade games. At 800 Microsoft points (that's $10) each, gamers will be able to purchase two of the most highly-anticipated Xbox Live Arcade games of recent months, South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play and Lucidity.
South Park Let's Go Tower Defense Play is notable in that it's the first new South Park video game to grace video game consoles in almost a decade, as creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker found the initial batch of games (including South Park Rally and Chef's Luv Shack) so detestable that they wanted to keep their cartoon out of video games, even when they were including more and more video games in their cartoon.
Lucidity marks the first original IP from Lucasarts to hit Xbox Live Arcade, and only the second to hit this current generation of consoles (the other being Fracture). Lucidity is a puzzle-based platformer, in which you have to create a safe path for the constantly-moving titular character.
Based on your first impressions, do either (or both) of this weeks games look appealing to you?
I can easily tell what's happening here.

I played an FPS South park game on N64 what feels like ages ago. It was very immature but I was a kid so I didn't care and had a lot of fun playing it.

I remember that FPS South Park game. Pretty hilarious but the effect wore off pretty quick.
I love South Park. Great show but the games were never good. I'll download the trial game of this new one and see how I like it. South Park Rally was a horrible game. The only thing that make Chefs Luv Shack worth playing was the minigame "Asses in Space"
