Microsoft comments on defective ODSTs

Many Halo 3: ODST players have reported problems playing the game, and Microsoft has prepared an official response.

Microsoft comments on defective ODSTs

Some gamers are getting none of this.

Multiple users are reporting having trouble playing Halo 3: ODST on their consoles, with the game either skipping or sometimes not reading at all. The Bungie forums are busy with these reports, but it looks like the majority of players are able to play the game. For some who have the space, installing the game to the hard drive seems to be a common problem-solver.

If you have a problem with your copy, send your story to Test Ninja Alpha on the Bungie forums. They're currently trying to figure out if it's a disc issue or a hardware issue.

Microsoft, however, has made a statement regarding the Halo 3: ODST issues, and they seem to be downplaying the problem a bit.

Microsoft said to Eurogamer that they're "aware of a very small number of people who are reporting they can't play the game". The situation seems to be much more widespread and serious than they let on. Some gamers on the Bungie forums have even stated that ODST's problems have extended beyond the game and the disc is ruining the console itself.

We'll keep you updated on anything Microsoft says or does regarding the matter.

Wow I didn't even know it was having any problems other than my friends multiplayer disk being louder than normal when spinning. anyone know if my friend should return his disk or is this problem completely different from a loud disk?

I would guess that the issue is disc-based,considering the system was needed to test the game so that it could be released. Then again, the game may have been solely tested on more recent models of 360 or something. Besides,Microsoft does not need more issues with their system at this point. Either way,I hope those having problems can resolve them quickly, because I know I would be furious to pay $60 for a game I cannot play.

I've beat the campaign, played firefight several times and also online with the multiplayer disc over 10 hours already. Despiet all of that I haven't had one single problem. I did install the ODST disc to my harddrive but I do that with every game I play thru because it makes my console run quieter and it shortens load times.

the should of just had it as DLC since its am expansion to Halo 3, or they should of just made Halo 4.
