GoldenEye re-release not happening

No GoldenEye 007 remake, says Rare.
Fanboys everywhere with fond multiplayer memories will be sorely disappointed to hear that a GoldenEye 007 release is, apparently, not in the works.
Rare response to the hotly anticipated query was that "we?re long past the stage where an agreement was on the card." This means no Virtual Console release, no XBLA re-make, and no PSN port.
Rare did end their response on a hopeful note, stating that, "stranger things have happened? somewhere? probably," but that doesn't change the fact that die-hard fans of the original N64 classic will have to look elsewhere for their FPS fix.
If you're in dire need of a GoldenEye fix, however, there are a few ways to scratch that itch, including the stellar Half-Life 2 modification GoldenEye Source.

Well that is just sad news. All well I still have it for my N64 :) At least we're getting Perfect Dark this winter. I have that for my N64 as well but I want to play it online.

Noooooooooooooooooo. I wonder if it ever dawned on Rare to release this game(which has been said to be 100% completed) with a different title. EA released a Bond game a few years ago titled Goldeneye: Rogue Agent. Rare should release it and call it Goldeneye: Suck It Nintendo, or S.I.N. I'd buy it for the name alone.
All is not lost though. As Misfit pointed out, we still get Perfect Dark 64 this winter and no other console(including Wii's virtual console) is getting it. I can't wait for it to come out.

This was expected. At least we're getting PD. It's the superior of the two games anyway.
