Street Fighter IV "sequel" announcement coming soon

Will we get an announcement regarding the sequel to Street Fighter IV at the Tokyo Game Show this year? Read on to find out.

Street Fighter IV 'sequel' announcement coming soon

We really hope they release this edition.

The Japanese Street Fighter IV Blog is teasing fans with a post announcing that news regarding a sequel is "coming soon."

Now before you get your hopes up, remember that we're talking about Street Fighter here -- a series known for creating spinoff, after spinoff and being stingy with the sequels. Odds are we'll see a new version of Street Fighter IV, and we'll have to wait a while for SF V.

While the blog didn't give any information on a timeframe for the announcement, The Tokyo Game Show is coming up -- seems like as good of a place as any.

THE VERDICT by Andy Burt Andy Burt's Avatar I'm going to go ahead and say that SFV will not be announced at TGS; knowing Capcom's track record with their flagship fighter this is just not a possibility. But, we may get some kind of updated version of the game. See the above image for an idea of what to look forward to.

you just here to bash? I personally think they should just make some DLC if they are just going to do some type of spin off

So quick? C'mon Capcom, don't let Street Fighter sequels come out so close to one another.

Sounds good to me. I don't get why all of you are crying. For hardcore SF's SF4 was a huge letdown. Yeah, a overall good game. Nice graphics, tons of characters. But the combat SUCKED!!! It was so dumbed down for the casual gamer. There was no depth. I am really excited for this. I play SFA2 everyday, and 3rd Strike a good amount every week. Can't wait Capcom. I just hope this makes it stateside and not just over in Japan.

No depth? Really, did you play it at all? Not sure how the combat was "dumbed down" either since pulling off FADC's into ultra's required quick presses of 5 buttons total with a dash in there. How many supers in Third Strike for instance required you to press three buttons at the same time? Casual SFIV is not. The pace of the fights are slower, I'll grant you that, but still not nearly as slow as the first incarnation of SFII. Watch a pro SFIV match and see how much depth the game has. If anything I'd say it's deeper than the broken 3rd strike game where all people use are Chun, Yun, and Ken and just try to land supers off parry's and low shorts. So boring to watch and play.

Denveraic obviously cannot play the game, hasn't played any competition, has no idea what he is talking about, and is not a true SF fan. No depth!? What the hell are you smoking? Prime example of why drugs are bad because this is a dumb statement. The game has mad depth and if you were an actual SF fan, you would actaully appreciate the tweaks in this game.

I know that you are entitled to your opinion but I can cal your opinion DUMB!

dude, all you do on here is talk sh*t. tell someone who cares... or try forming an actual opinion/explanation of why you seem to hate everything.

I hope they make a girlier version with a Very Very Ultra Easy mode. This game literally kicks my ass and hands it to me on a silver platter, even on Very Easy. But I can't help but love the artistic of the game. So well done. I do really hope to get an arcade stick for the game one of these days... And as for depth?? I can barely scrape the surface of what this game has to offer combat wise.
