Ubisoft CEO expects major delays in 2010

The Fall 2009 video game release calendar has been ravaged by delays. The early 2010 calendar may meet the same fate.
Game delays make me feel like the guy on the left.
We've already seen a number of blockbuster games delayed into the first quarter of 2010 -- too many according to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, who warns that there could be major delays in the works.
"Well, now we have a situation where there are a lot of good games due for release in the first half of next year," Guillemot told MCV in a recent interview. "The first half of 2010 is looking pretty crazy, so I expect some movement from the other players -- some of those delayed games will be moved again."
We of course just learned that BioShock 2 will ship on February 9, but will we see games like Dark Void, Bayonetta, Red Dead Redemption and Singularity be moved again? The CEO didn't name any games he expects to slip directly, but he did comment on Splinter Cell: Conviction, delayed multiple times by his own company.
"We want it to be an excellent game because the other games that are coming out are getting better all the time," Guillemot commented. "So we said why not? If we can delay it and benefit, then that's a good thing.Plus, there are loads of great games coming out this side of Christmas."

Even though he didn't name a single game, when the CEO of Ubisoft predicts delays, you can expect Ubisoft to make some of them. I'd say No More Heroes is most likely, followed by I Am Alive. I swear to god, though, they better not push Splinter Cell any further back.

i second that.i know delays are for the better when concerning the dev time.but come on.this game has been delayed alot.now they are sounding like they would do it just to do it.so other games can sell.im keeping my fingers crossed.really hopin i can play this game after the first of the year.splinter cell is by far one of my favorite franchises.

Yea exactly, this is a delay of a delay of a delay. You gotta wonder after all of these delays and the review comes back less than 10 then what? But Splinter Cell was the best back in the day, I'm just mad that they keep changing his appearence. The original was the best.

my thoughts exactly.release the blockbusters early (that is if they are ready) .then the above average and not so good games through out the summer.

I'll stop caring about these games soon,with too many more delays. Hope this doesn't go the route of Duke Nukem.

They can delay all they want cause come November I'll be playing one game & one game only.......modern warefare 2!!
